Google NotebookLM Enhancements: Global Rollout of Video and Audio Overviews

This week, Google has unveiled exciting updates to its AI-driven note-taking and research application, NotebookLM. The most notable enhancement is the broadened accessibility of the Video Overviews feature, which is now available in 80 languages worldwide. This improvement allows it to align with the previously established Audio Overviews, which has offered similar language support.
Unveiling Video Overviews
First introduced during Google I/O 2025, the Video Overviews feature facilitates the transformation of user-provided data into engaging video presentations. By leveraging advanced AI technology, this feature can extract visual elements such as images, charts, quotes, and statistics from your documents. An added bonus is the inclusion of AI-generated hosts that deliver narrated summaries with a compelling and natural cadence.
Expanded Language Support
Previously available only in English, Video Overviews can now be generated in a variety of languages, including French, German, Greek, Portuguese, Japanese, and Spanish, among others. Google emphasized that “Non-English Audio Overviews will now mirror the rich, detailed experience of the English version, providing a more thorough discussion of your sources in all of the supported languages, ”as stated in a recent blog post.
Audio Overviews Get a Boost
In addition to enhancing Video Overviews, Google has made significant upgrades to the Audio Overviews feature in NotebookLM. Users can now generate comprehensive, full-length audio summaries in over 80 non-English languages. Initially limited to brief highlights in English, this innovation ensures continuity and depth in discussions, enabling users to receive connected narratives rather than fragmented snippets. However, the option to create concise overviews remains available for those preferring brevity.
Looking Ahead
These exciting enhancements are being rolled out and will reach all users globally in the coming weeks. Furthermore, Google has shared a public notebook detailing the launch of its Pixel 10 series, which includes devices like the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, Pixel Buds 2a, and Pixel Watch 4, showcasing how the company continues to improve its offerings in both hardware and software.
