The Pixel 9 series, launched in August, has unveiled several exciting features, including innovative camera enhancements and editing tools like Add Me, Video Boost with Night Sight, Auto Frame, and Reimagine.
The Auto Frame feature utilizes AI to automatically optimize the framing of the selected subject, which may involve expanding the image. Conversely, the Reimagine feature allows users to alter backgrounds, such as replacing clouds, roads, and water.
Reports indicate that Google is planning to extend the two new Magic Editor features, Auto Frame and Reimagine, to older Pixel models. Code investigator Assemble Debug has discovered hints of these features within the Google Photos app, implying their potential arrival on Pixel 6, Pixel 7, and Pixel 8 series devices.

According to Assemble Debug, the Google Photos app is available in three versions: one for non-Pixel phones, one for Pixel 6 and newer devices, and one specifically for the Pixel 9 series.
The Google Photos app for the Pixel 9 series includes all necessary code for the Reimagine and Auto Frame features. Recently, these codes were also identified in the latest Google Photos app, v6.99, for Pixels released between 2021 and 2023, signaling that these AI features will soon be available for older Pixel flagship models.
Currently, the standard Google Photos app for non-Pixel devices does not contain any code snippets related to the Reimagine and Auto Frame features, meaning these enhancements will remain exclusive to Pixel phones for the time being.
While there is no specific timeline for when Google will roll out the new AI capabilities for older Pixel devices, these Magic Editor features are anticipated to be delivered through an upcoming Feature Drop update.
