Google Photos New Video Player Features Improved Design and Haptic Feedback
Google is actively enhancing its Photos application with several innovative features. Recently, it has come to light that users will soon be able to determine whether an image is generated by AI. This information is anticipated to be included in the details section of each image.
Additionally, there are indications that the “Memories”feature in Google Photos may be set to receive narration capabilities. Presently, this feature only presents slideshows comprising photos and videos accompanied by background music. Thanks to advancements in Gemini AI, the upcoming videos will include narration, adding more depth to the shared memories.
In the most recent update, Google Photos app version 7.4, a revamped video player is being tested to enhance the overall user experience. The redesigned video player boasts a sleek new user interface and introduces new controls. Users will notice that the player is significantly more refined, featuring distinct buttons for volume, pause, and a new looping function, all conveniently located beneath the video. Previously, the pause button was displayed in the center of the video, while the volume controls were positioned on the right.
The seek bar within the newly designed Google Photos video player is also undergoing a transformation. The continuous line seek bar has been replaced with a dotted version.
This upgrade enables users to navigate to specific sections of a video with greater precision, and it offers pleasing haptic feedback during video scrubbing.
Moreover, the new player allows users to move forward or rewind by simply double-tapping the left or right sides, respectively, enabling a 5-second jump in either direction.
This updated video player is included in the latest version of Google Photos but has not yet been rolled out to users, including beta testers.
According to the team at Android Authority, they had to experiment with the app to get it functioning properly. However, it appears that additional features currently under development will be bundled with the new video player upon its release.
