In addition to being a reliable storage solution for your photos, Google Photos also offers a robust built-in photo editor. Recently, Google introduced several exciting features to the Photos app, including the AI-powered Magic Editor for older devices, which enhances photo editing capabilities for Android phones.
Previously, users could change the color of the sky within their images but lacked the ability to flip photos or videos. Thankfully, as reported by Android expert Mishaal Rahman on the social media platform X, Google Photos is rolling out a new button that enables users to flip images horizontally. This enhancement is now visible in the “Crop”section of the editing tools on the Android version of the app.
Currently, this feature is being released to a limited number of users and hasn’t been made available to the entire Google Photos user base yet. It is expected to be rolled out gradually through a server-side update, with more users gaining access in the upcoming days.
Google Photos seems to have finally added a button to flip images horizontally.
This is starting to become available for some users. Let me know if you see the button.

For those who have not yet received this new feature, you will still find editing options such as rotate, resize, and improve the aspect ratio of your images within Google Photos. With the addition of the new horizontal flip button, users can rotate both photos and videos. This makes it easier to correct orientation issues, especially in cases where selfies are taken without enabling the mirror option in your camera’s settings.
After flipping an image or video, you will have the option to save it as a copy, preserving the original file. This ensures that your initial images or videos remain untouched while providing the flexibility to edit as desired.
Beyond this update, Google is also actively developing various features for the Photos app, including a spotlight feature for videos and the capability to generate slow-motion clips from your video footage.
