Through Gemini for Google Workspace, customers on Google’s Workspace Business, Enterprise, and Frontline plans are harnessing the advantages of generative AI. Google asserts that 75% of daily users of Gemini for Workspace find that it enhances the quality of their work. A survey conducted by Google among its customers indicates that users save an average of 105 minutes per week.
Today, Google announced the launch of the standalone Gemini app (available at gemini.google.com) for customers with Workspace Business, Enterprise, and Frontline plans. This offering is comparable to Microsoft Copilot (previously known as Bing Chat Enterprise), which is also available for enterprise users.
As anticipated, Gemini for enterprise customers includes robust data protections, ensuring that Google will not utilize an organization’s data, user prompts, or generated responses to train or enhance its Gemini models. Google Workspace admins can manage how the Gemini app processes user prompts and response retention through the admin console.
In another significant update, Google announced that Gemini for Workspace is now certified against industry-leading security and privacy standards, including SOC 1/2/3, ISO 27001, and ISO 27701. Google claims that similar certifications are not offered by other generative AI solutions currently available.
For users of the Google Workspace Business edition, a new security feature called Security Advisor has also been introduced, designed to help businesses defend against cyber threats. Security Advisor will provide tailored insights, actionable guidance, and enhanced threat prevention and data protection capabilities. This new feature will begin rolling out to all Workspace Business edition users in the coming weeks.
With these advancements, Google is working to reinforce its presence in the enterprise AI market, emphasizing productivity and security. The standalone Gemini app and the new Security Advisor feature could be pivotal for small and medium-sized businesses aiming to utilize AI while ensuring the safety and control of their data.
