In a significant move that underscores the growing interest in artificial intelligence, Google has announced the launch of a complimentary 18-month subscription to its Google AI Pro service for eligible users in India. This initiative highlights the tech giant’s commitment to expanding AI access in the world’s most populous nation.

To qualify for this offer, users must subscribe to the Jio Unlimited 5G plan. This collaboration with Reliance Intelligence, the AI-focused subsidiary of Reliance, aims to leverage the extensive reach of Jio, which boasts over 500 million subscribers in the country.
Details of the Google AI Pro Plan
According to Google, the AI Pro subscription—which retails at INR 35, 100 (approximately $396)—will initially be available to users aged 18 to 25, before being rolled out to all eligible Jio customers across India. This proactive step mirrors the growing trend of tech companies targeting younger demographics to cultivate a new generation of AI enthusiasts.
Enhanced Features for Users
The Google AI Pro plan offers numerous enhancements, including increased limits on advanced generative AI models like Gemini 2.5 Pro, alongside higher usage quotas for applications such as Flow, Whisk, Jules, Gemini Code Assist, and Gemini CLI. Notably, subscribers to this plan will enjoy up to five times the number of Audio Overviews and notebooks compared to the free version of NotebookLM.

Furthermore, users will benefit from 2TB of cloud storage, which can be utilized across various Google services, including Photos, Drive, Gmail, and WhatsApp backups. This integration not only enhances data accessibility but also ensures a seamless user experience across platforms.

Jio customers interested in this offer can verify their eligibility and activate their free Google AI Pro subscription via the MyJio app. It’s important to note that the benefit is restricted to one claim per mobile number, and users must maintain an active 5G plan for the entire duration of the subscription.

This initiative from Google comes shortly after Perplexity’s partnership with Airtel, which introduced a 12-month complimentary Perplexity Pro subscription in India. Additionally, OpenAI is set to launch its year-long free ChatGPT Go promotional offer for all Indian users on November 4. Notably, Google had already begun its outreach earlier this year in July, when it provided Google AI Pro for free to students aged 18 and under.
