Google’s NotebookLM: Upcoming Android and iOS Apps Set to Launch
NotebookLM, a cutting-edge AI notebook developed by Google utilizing the Gemini language model, is set to debut its much-anticipated Android application. This announcement comes from a recent listing in the Google Play Store, hinting at a release just on the horizon.
Previously, NotebookLM was accessible only through its web interface, which, while functional on mobile devices, was not optimized for smaller screens, resulting in a less-than-ideal user experience. The introduction of a dedicated mobile application aims to improve accessibility and usability for users on the go.
How NotebookLM Enhances Information Management
This innovative service is designed to help users effectively organize and interpret their information. By allowing users to upload a variety of source materials such as PDFs, Google Docs, Google Slides, websites, and even public YouTube videos, NotebookLM transforms into a specialized AI resource. It not only generates detailed summaries and personalized FAQs but can also produce Audio Overviews—AI-generated briefing sessions that resemble informative podcast discussions. Unlike Google’s broader AI applications, NotebookLM’s focused approach minimizes the likelihood of inaccuracies, enabling it to provide reliable citations directly within the text.

Expanded Accessibility for iOS Users
Android users are not alone, as an entry for NotebookLM has also appeared in the iOS App Store. Notably, the iOS app is set to launch on May 20, 2025—coinciding with Google I/O, the tech giant’s flagship developer conference (more on this event schedule is available here). The App Store description reveals some exciting features:
Listen to your favorite Audio Overviews on the go with the Google NotebookLM app, the official companion app to notebooklm.google.com. The app allows you to: • View the notebooks you have created on notebooklm.google.com • View the sources you have uploaded in each of the notebooks • Listen to the Audio Overviews you have generated on notebooklm.google.com
Enhanced Features for Android Users
According to the Play Store listing, the Android app will offer a suite of similar functionalities. Users can create and access their notebooks, pose questions, and enjoy their Audio Overviews in podcast format, complete with capabilities for background playback and offline access. Additionally, the app promises seamless integration with Android features, including the ability to upload sources via the sharing feature, while also facilitating direct interaction with AI resources from within the application.
