Google Chrome Introduces AI Mode on Mobile Devices
Recently, users may have spotted the AI mode button on the desktop version of Google Chrome. This innovative feature utilizes the advanced capabilities of Gemini 2.5, allowing users to pose questions in various formats—be it text, voice, or images—and receive comprehensive answers. Excitingly, this capability is now making its way to Google Chrome on iOS and Android devices.
New Access to AI Mode on Mobile
The AI Mode button will appear on the “New Tab”page of the Chrome app, positioned next to the Incognito button. As of Wednesday, this feature is accessible in the United States and will gradually roll out to 160 other countries across multiple languages, including Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, and Portuguese.
Enhanced User Experience with AI and Incognito Modes
Both the AI Mode and Incognito Mode feature distinct icons within their pill-shaped buttons. By simplifying access to AI functionalities, Google aims to encourage users to leverage its integrated AI for research and problem-solving, instead of resorting to third-party AI chatbots. However, it’s important to note that the AI Mode feature is optional; users must actively tap the button to engage with it, contrasting with the default AI Overviews that appear during search queries.

Evolution of AI Mode
Initially launched in March, the AI Mode was exclusive to desktop users. Over time, it has evolved to include numerous enhancements and is now conveniently accessible as a dedicated button beneath the Google Search bar on mobile devices.
Agentic Capabilities Now Available to All
In a recent update, AI Mode has been equipped with agentic capabilities, enabling users to manage bookings for restaurants, purchase event tickets, and even secure flight reservations. Originally, this functionality was reserved for Google AI Ultra subscribers. However, it is now available for all users who subscribe to the “Agentic Capabilities in AI Mode”through Google Labs, with enhanced limits for AI Pro and Ultra members.
