Exciting Updates for Google Fi Wireless

After a decade in service, Google Fi Wireless is rolling out a series of enhancements to improve user experience. One of the most notable updates is the expansion of the Wi-Fi Auto Connect+ feature, which is now accessible in “millions of locations, ”including major airports such as JFK, LAX, and ORD.

This advanced feature operates free of charge on Pixel devices, enabling automatic connection to participating premium Wi-Fi networks at various venues like shopping malls and airports, especially when cellular signals are weak indoors. When connected through Wi-Fi Auto Connect+, users will notice a distinctive “W+”icon appearing in the status bar.

Enhanced Connectivity and Performance

Currently available for Pixel 5 and newer models at selected U. S.locations, users can experience up to double the reliability and a 30% decrease in latency on premium Wi-Fi connections compared to traditional Google Fi cellular networks, enhancing the overall connectivity experience.

AI-Enhanced Calling Features

In addition to Wi-Fi advancements, Google Fi Wireless is set to introduce support for AI-enhanced audio calls. This forthcoming feature aims to improve conversations involving landlines or older devices by filtering out distracting background noise while clarifying voices on both ends. This functionality will begin rolling out in the coming weeks.

Web-Based Functionality Improvements

Moreover, Google is enhancing its web platform for Google Fi over the next few weeks. Users will gain the ability to make phone calls, send messages, and check voicemails directly from a computer or tablet’s web browser without needing their Google Fi-enabled phone on hand. This update will also introduce a revamped interface equipped with full RCS support, allowing for high-quality photo and video sharing.

Intelligent Bill Summaries

To further leverage AI, Google Fi Wireless is updating its in-app monthly bill summaries. These new AI-driven features will provide clear explanations of charges, outline changes from the previous month, and indicate how plan modifications may influence future costs.
