On October 23, Episode 6 of the inaugural season of The Golden Bachelorette premiered, showcasing Joan’s hometown dates with four contenders: Chock, Guy, Pascal, and Jordan. Following Jordan’s indecisiveness, Joan decided to eliminate him from the competition.
During her date with Guy in his hometown, they enjoyed a scenic boat ride on Lake Tahoe. Joan met Guy’s sons, who were polite but expressed concern about their father’s potential heartbreak.
While the couple shared a kiss during their outing, many fans of The Golden Bachelorette commented on the lack of chemistry between them, with Joan herself describing their connection as a “slow burn.”She confessed that she was still coming to terms with her late husband, John, and needed time to develop feelings for someone new. Reactions on social media reflected this sentiment, with various viewers voicing their doubts about the couple’s romantic chemistry.
“Watching Joan kiss Guy is somewhat cringeworthy. It lacks romance!”commented a viewer.
“While Guy’s family is fantastic, he seems the least desperate, but Joan’s interest seems directed at Chock,”noted another fan.
“Guy and his family are genuine, but there’s no romantic spark between him and Joan. I hope his new confidence helps him find love,”another viewer added.
“Awww, Guy is a true gem. Unfortunately, it seems Joan doesn’t share his feelings,”wrote a different fan.
Some viewers noted that Joan appeared to connect more strongly with her other suitors compared to Guy.
“I just don’t understand the attraction to Pascal, but she seems much more animated around him than Guy. I heard Pascal might eliminate her, which doesn’t seem to align with her reaction,”one fan remarked.
“Guy feels a bit lackluster. Joan’s connection appears significantly stronger with the other contenders besides Pascal,”another user wrote.
“Honestly, I’m surprised Guy has progressed this far,”commented a fan.
Guy’s Hometown Date with Joan on Episode 6 of The Golden Bachelorette

“This feels like our happy place, so serene.”
Joan also reflected on how every moment since her husband John’s passing has been a reminder of their life together. After being together for such a long time, she described the prospect of dating someone new as “odd”.
