Driven by an unyielding resolve, General Ross will leave no stone unturned in his mission to eradicate monsters. With the Thunderbolts at his side, Ross has previously taken down substantial threats, including Fin Fang Foom and Kumonga. Now, as he sets his sights on his biggest target yet—Godzilla—the stakes are higher than ever, promising a cataclysmic showdown.

Anticipation for the Showdown

The Marvel Universe has witnessed its fair share of giant monsters, but Godzilla represents a unique challenge even for the indomitable Hulk. Writer Gerry Duggan expresses his excitement for this project:

I grew up loving Godzilla movies and Marvel Comics, and it’s a thrill to be able to collaborate with Giuseppe Camuncoli on the absolute craziest comic I think I’ve ever been a part of, and I worked on over a hundred issues of Deadpool and once wrote a comic about Conan killing a zombie with a call girl’s leg. I won’t tell you who wins – the Hulk or Godzilla – but either way, the fans are going to be thrilled.

Godzilla vs Hulk is just one part of Marvel’s ambitious Godzilla vs Marvel event, which includes six comic issues featuring the King of Monsters confronting various heroes. Additionally, Marvel is releasing a collection of the original 1970s Godzilla comic series, making a much-anticipated return to the shelves. This confrontation will not only showcase epic battles between Godzilla and Hulk but will also involve both titans facing off against the Thunderbolts, coinciding with the upcoming Thunderbolts film set to be released in May 2025. Artist Giuseppe Camuncoli shares his enthusiasm:

When Marvel called with this offer, I was quite thrilled. It felt very cool to draw this titan, although the real challenge was to make the iconic ‘70s version look extra scary and dangerous. Thanks to Gerry Duggan’s blazing script, it was quite easy – lots and lots of super crazy scenes to illustrate, I knew this was going to be so much fun. Two of the most powerful and relentless characters and forces in the pop culture world face to face for the first time… I couldn’t resist to be the one to draw that!
