GMKtec Introduces the 2nd Generation Desktop AI Supercomputer Boasting 180 TOPS of AI Capability

The prominent mini PC manufacturer GMKtec has shared an exciting preview of their forthcoming AI-focused mini PC via social media platform X. The company claims that this new model will deliver an impressive 180 TOPS (Tera Operations Per Second) of AI processing power within a remarkably small footprint. However, specific details regarding the hardware specifications remain undisclosed, leaving enthusiasts eager for more information. GMKtec’s lineup already includes advanced Intel and AMD mini PCs, such as those powered by the latest Arrow Lake and Zen 5 architectures, featuring high-performance processors like the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 in their EVO series.

The current champion of GMKtec’s Intel line, the EVO T1, features the Core Ultra 9 285H processor, offering a commendable 99 AI TOPS. This emerging “2nd-gen”AI Supercomputer is set to surpass that performance with its impressive 180 TOPS, strongly indicating integration with Intel’s upcoming Panther Lake architecture. Flagship mobile processors from AMD’s Zen 5 lineup, like the Ryzen AI Max+ 395, provide approximately 126 TOPS, making Panther Lake the superior choice for achieving higher combined AI outputs.

Within the Panther Lake range, multiple WeUs are capable of achieving up to 180 TOPS of AI performance. This includes processors such as the Core Ultra X7 358H, Core Ultra X7 368H, and the high-end Core Ultra X9 388H, all of which incorporate a 12 Xe3-core Arc B390 integrated GPU. The iGPU contributes a substantial 122 AI TOPS, while the combination of the NPU5 adds around 50 TOPS and the CPU itself provides roughly 9 AI TOPS, collectively yielding a peak of 180 to 181 TOPS.

It is anticipated that GMKtec might offer one of these high-performance WeUs or potentially several variations of the new AI mini PC, catering to those seeking enhanced performance. Visually, the 2nd Gen AI mini PC does not appear to diverge from the original design of the EVO T1. Specifics regarding RAM and storage capacities have not yet been disclosed, though it is likely that this new model will mirror the current offerings, potentially featuring configurations such as 64 GB of RAM paired with 1 TB of storage, or an expansive 96 GB with 2 TB.

As for pricing and availability, enthusiasts can expect further updates regarding the 2nd generation mini PC in the near future.
