The upcoming EVO-X2 is set to revolutionize the AI Mini PC landscape by becoming the first model to support 70 billion parameters in its Large Language Model (LLM).This advancement promises a performance enhancement, making it significantly swifter in AI tasks compared to the renowned RTX 4090 graphics card.
Pre-Order Launch of GMKtec EVO-X2 Next Week: Starting Price 14, 999 Yuan
The surge in the AI PC market has led various hardware manufacturers, including GMKtec, to develop specialized AI Mini PCs. The EVO-X2 has claimed the title of the first AI Mini PC capable of supporting 70B LLM, a sophisticated model designed to execute diverse AI functions such as text generation and interactive question-answering, utilizing a staggering 70 billion parameters.
At the heart of the EVO-X2 is AMD’s top-tier Strix Halo chip, the Ryzen AI Max+ 395, featuring an impressive architecture with 16 cores and 32 threads based on Zen 5 technology. This robust processor is complemented by the powerful Radeon 8060S integrated graphics, crafted for demanding graphical applications, yet its dedicated NPU manages to surpass even the high-end RTX graphics cards when it comes to AI capabilities.

The EVO-X2 claims a performance boost of up to 2.2 times over the RTX 4090 in LM Studio, an expansive open-source platform that facilitates LLM deployment across various operating systems, including Mac, Linux, and Windows. The device will be pre-configured with Windows 11, aligning with GMKtec’s trend of delivering ready-to-use systems. The company has a history of producing compact PCs and continues to expand its powerful offerings, as evidenced by the recent launch of the EVO-X1, which utilizes the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor.
Enhanced performance in the EVO-X2 comes from a notable increase in core and thread counts—up by 4 and 8, respectively—alongside a substantial improvement in graphics performance. The transition from the Radeon 890M to the Radeon 8060S, which boasts 40 Compute Units based on RDNA 3.5 architecture, justifies its higher price point: around 14, 999 Yuan (approximately US$2, 052).This pricing positions the EVO-X2 as more than double the MSRP of its predecessor, the EVO-X1.

While detailed specifications remain limited, the mini PC will likely come equipped with 8533 MT/s LPDDR5X memory, with a potential RAM capacity starting at 32 GB or higher. Storage options will encompass dual M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 4.0 slots for SSDs. Users can also expect a suite of high-speed connectivity options including multiple USB Type-A ports, a USB4 Type-C port, an SD card reader, and display outputs through HDMI 2.1 and DP 2.0, alongside a dedicated audio jack.
The GMKtec EVO-X2 is poised to be available for pre-order starting April 15 from the official GMKtec website.
