Gkids Secures Distribution Rights for Arcane Season 2, Plans Complete Product Launch in 2025

Exciting Developments for Arcane Season 2

  • Gkids has secured global rights for Arcane Season 2, with a product launch slated for 2025.
  • The company previously offered exclusive 4K UHD and Blu-ray editions for Season 1, setting high expectations.
  • Physical media retains advantages over streaming, such as enduring access and superior quality for dedicated fans.

In an exciting announcement, Gkids has revealed plans for a new product lineup centered around the eagerly awaited Arcane Season 2. The renowned distributor, known for its commitment to high-quality animated films, has acquired the global video digital transactional rights for the second season of this acclaimed series.

Based in New York, Gkids specializes in both adult and family-oriented animated films. Their recent acquisition by the prominent Japanese entertainment company Toho, famous for the Godzilla franchise, has significantly enhanced their capabilities and reach within the industry. Through this partnership, Gkids has solidified another deal with Riot Games, the creators of League of Legends, and Fortiche, the French animation studio responsible for Arcane, which creatively explores the universe of League of Legends.

The rights acquired by Gkids encompass all global territories except China, paving the way for a comprehensive release plan in 2025. This mirrors their successful strategy for Arcane Season 1, which saw product launches in 2024. Alison Kozberg, Gkids Director of Home Entertainment, expressed excitement over this collaboration, stating, “We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Riot and Fortiche, ” as reported by Deadline.“We designed our Season 1 editions with the vision of eventually celebrating the complete journey of characters like Jinx, Vi, and others. We are keen to produce something remarkable for the epic conclusion of this arc.”

Anticipated offerings include a stunning 4K version of the series. Last year, Gkids debuted an exclusive 4K UHD Steelbook edition of Arcane: League of Legends, featuring a Jinx-themed design, in addition to various formats of the program across multiple Blu-ray discs. Their Collector’s Set presents a definitive showcase of Arcane, complete with all nine Season 1 episodes in both 4K UHD and Blu-ray formats and over three hours of bonus features. More detailed product specifications and release dates will be forthcoming on their official website.

The physical release of Arcane Season 1 stirred considerable enthusiasm among fans, even those who initially streamed the series on Netflix. A physical copy provides lifelong access to beloved content, independent of streaming service availability. High-profile platforms like Netflix, Disney Plus, and Max can remove titles for various reasons, including legal complexities, financial constraints, and changing strategies. In contrast, owning a physical copy ensures unending access, coupled with enhanced audio and visual quality.

Exclusive editions like the Collector’s Set enhance the experience for fans and collectors alike. Gkids’ Collector’s Set for Season 1 includes unique artwork, a special “Hexcore” oversized metal d20, liquid core resin dice, an elegant velvet pouch for the dice, art cards, and a poster featuring original designs. Enthusiasts of Arcane are encouraged to stay tuned for updates regarding the upcoming releases from Gkids for Season 2.

Arcane is available for streaming on Netflix.
