GIGABYTE Launches Ultra Turbo Mode for Intel Z890: Promises Up to 35% Enhanced Gaming Performance with Intel Core Ultra Series 2

GIGABYTE has introduced an innovative utility that enhances Intel Core Ultra 200S processor performance on its Z890 motherboards by adding new profiles within the BIOS.

GIGABYTE’s Ultra Turbo Mode Promises Up to 35% Enhanced Gaming Performance

The Intel Arrow Lake-S, more commonly known as the Core Ultra Series 2 processors, is set to leverage a groundbreaking optional enhancement by GIGABYTE that promises significant performance upgrades. Dubbed “Ultra Turbo Mode, ”this BIOS-specific feature is designed exclusively for the Intel Z890 platform, allowing users to optimize hardware parameters to unlock higher performance levels.

According to GIGABYTE, Ultra Turbo Mode could facilitate performance boosts of up to 35%, primarily during gaming scenarios, without necessitating any new hardware investments. Previously, GIGABYTE implemented a similar enhancement on the AM5 platform, referred to as “X3D Turbo Mode, ”which was targeted at X3D CPUs. However, the Ultra Turbo Mode marks the first of its kind for Intel’s Z890 lineup.

GIGABYTE has made impressive claims regarding the performance potential of Ultra Turbo Mode, citing up to 68% improvements in the AIDA64 memory benchmark as well as a 35% increase in frame rates while playing games like Hitman 3: Dartmoor. However, it’s important for users to remain cautious about these assertions, especially since such a substantial performance gain could theoretically place the Core Ultra Series 2 processors ahead of the Ryzen 9000X3D chips. The absence of supporting screenshots and data calls for a healthy skepticism regarding these outcomes, which appear to be optimal cases rather than typical benchmarks.

Despite the skepticism, it seems that GIGABYTE’s Ultra Turbo Mode does present an opportunity for notable performance enhancements by providing multiple memory and CPU optimizations that help users realize the full capabilities of their hardware. The Ultra Turbo Mode introduces three new BIOS profiles: LV2 Turbo Intel 200S Boost, LV2 Turbo Mode, and LV3 Extreme Mode. The LV1 Turbo profile capitalizes on Intel’s 200S Boost, which was launched recently and focuses on optimizing Fabric, Die-to-Die communication, and DDR5 memory clock speeds. Meanwhile, LV2 Turbo Mode delivers further enhancements to CPU and DRAM parameters, whereas LV3 Extreme Mode is purportedly geared towards unlocking the “maximum performance potential.”

While further details about the LV3 Extreme Mode remain sparse, it is highly probable that this mode includes additional capabilities such as improved power management and dynamic user workload monitoring. This ensures that critical workloads receive prioritized resource allocation. Users can expect the Ultra Turbo Mode to become available across all GIGABYTE Z890 motherboards through the upcoming BIOS update.
