Gigabyte has recently implemented price hikes for several of its NVIDIA and AMD graphics processing units (GPUs) within the Chinese market. This move has raised concerns about the impact of ongoing trade uncertainties on the supply chain.
Understanding Gigabyte’s GPU Price Adjustments Amid Supply Chain Fluctuations
In a notable development, Gigabyte emerges as one of the pioneering add-in board (AIB) manufacturers to raise GPU prices, a shift that many industry observers anticipated. Reports from Chiphell indicate that Gigabyte has begun notifying consumers in China about the price increases, which encompass several popular models, including NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5090D and RTX 4060 series, as well as AMD’s RX 9070 lineup.

While Gigabyte has not officially disclosed the reasons behind this price adjustment, it appears that factors such as supply chain instability and the repercussions of the recent tariff cycle under the Trump administration are influencing the decision.
Analyzing Price Changes Across GPU Models
The new pricing reflects an increase from the figures recorded in March, suggesting a potential revision of the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP).Below is a summary of the updated prices for selected GPU models:
- NVIDIA RTX 5090D (WindForce & EAGLE variants): From 16, 499 RMB to 16, 999 RMB (+500 RMB)
- NVIDIA RTX 4060 Ti : From 2, 999 RMB to 3, 049 RMB (+50 RMB)
- AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT: From 4, 999 RMB to 5, 199 RMB (+200 RMB)
- AMD Radeon RX 9070: From 4, 499 RMB to 4, 699 RMB (+200 RMB)
These increases are calculated based on the regional MSRPs and may not correspond directly to retail prices, which can vary depending on availability. Overall, the average price rise is modest, estimated between 3%-4%, suggesting that market dynamics may play a larger role than directly attributable tariff impacts.
Positive Developments Amidst Trade Tensions
On a brighter note, recent announcements indicate that Trump’s reciprocal tariffs will not affect PC components and smartphones, providing some relief for the IT consumer sector. Nonetheless, with geopolitical tensions remaining high, the longevity and reliability of such policies are uncertain.
