Celebrating Pokémon Day: Hopes and Expectations
February 27 holds a special significance for Pokémon enthusiasts worldwide, transforming an otherwise mundane day into a celebration of the beloved franchise. Known as Pokémon Day, this occasion serves as the annual platform for The Pokémon Company to unveil major announcements, including new films, merchandise, and game releases. Amidst a competitive gaming landscape filled with passionate communities, Pokémon fans take great pride in showcasing their dedication, reaching a peak of excitement each year on this date.
What to Anticipate This Pokémon Day
Traditionally, every Pokémon Day Presents is expected to feature updates on current live-service games, which may include new in-game events and seasonal offerings. While these updates are essential, the real excitement centers around game reveals. Fans universally express a desire for new content, whether that be remakes, spin-offs, or fresh mainline games, fueling the anticipation that defines the day.

Personal Wishlist for Pokémon Day 2025
As a fan, my aspirations for Pokémon Day lean toward achievable expectations. Instead of wishing for ambitious remakes or new titles, my simple wish for Pokémon Day 2025 is to see my favorite Game Boy Advance game made available on Nintendo Switch Online.
A Nostalgic Request: Pokémon Pinball
It’s been over two decades since the last Pokémon Pinball game, although I am not overly optimistic about the series making a comeback. However, I believe there’s potential for revival, especially considering titles like Pokémon Puzzle League and Trading Card Game have recently been reintroduced via the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. Why not allow Pokémon Pinball: Ruby and Sapphire to bask in the same revival?

Why Pokémon Pinball: Ruby and Sapphire Deserves a Second Chance
This game not only boasts stunning visuals, but it also enhances the pinball experience with improved physics and gameplay mechanics. Based in the third generation, players can engage in various activities, such as hatching, capturing, and evolving Pokémon as the ball navigates the board. The challenge of catching legendary Pokémon adds an exhilarating layer, unlike traditional mainline games, where players can simply reset their attempts.
The Legacy of a Cult Classic
Unfortunately, many fans missed the opportunity to experience the charm of Pokémon Pinball: Ruby and Sapphire, often dismissing it due to the mixed reception of its predecessor. Nonetheless, this title has achieved cult status within the Pokémon community. With The Pokémon Company already revisiting its unique spin-offs for Switch Online, a revival of this classic seems feasible.
Realistic Hopes for This Year
This Pokémon Day, my wish list excludes grand ideas like new games or ambitious remakes, such as Pokémon Reconquest or any remakes from the Black and White series. The only request I sent to the Pokémon universe was for the return of my cherished Game Boy classic on Nintendo Switch Online. As a dedicated fan, I remain hopeful for the outcome.
