The Knight and the Shield questline is one of the most extensive journeys in The Knightling, requiring players to complete various tasks before they can reconnect with Sir Lionstone. A key part of this adventure involves capturing the attention of Dame Oddwing.

After navigating the challenges in the Crypt, your next destination is the Easterberg Outpost, where you will reunite with Gynni. At this location, you can provide her with the Callyrium necessary to enhance your shield, granting you the ability to glide.

Empowered with your gliding skills, you set off towards the Windtorn Fields. However, upon reaching the Outpost, you encounter a blockade; the guards are preoccupied with vying for the Dame’s attention. Attempts to bypass them, such as gliding into her presence, will only result in being shooed away.

To streamline your quest and avoid unnecessary wandering, follow these steps to successfully garner Dame Oddwing’s attention.

While the game suggests engaging with the soldiers at the camp, the first priority is to speak with the Keeper of Records. This pivotal interaction sets the stage for your next challenge.

Afterward, successfully finishing a race will lead you to Knight Arjun, who is responsible for selecting the Dame’s most worthy contenders. Upon your subsequent interaction with him, you will be presented with a challenge to navigate an obstacle course. Triumphant completion will earn you an audience with the Dame.

Locating the Keeper of Records and Winning the Race

To find the Keeper of Records, head south from the Outpost until you encounter blue grass, which you can slide across. Utilize the launchpad mushroom to propel yourself into the air. Instead of continuing forward, redirect your path southwest to locate a Soldier camp below.

Continue westward until you spot a racing banner above the gate. Here to your left stands the Keeper of Records. Upon speaking with him, you will learn that you must traverse the Great Barrier within 30 seconds.

As you approach the gate, look for the record board outside. Activate it to see the required scores for different medals: aim for 25 seconds for Gold, 35 seconds for Silver, and 45 seconds for Bronze.

When the race begins, make use of the mushroom launchpad to your right. Follow the wind currents to glide towards the next section, where you’ll encounter another wind current. Press R2 to slide on the blue grass along a small plateau, then take advantage of the subsequent wind current.

Near the end of the course, once again slide on the grass close to the finish line. With optimal execution, you should complete the race in approximately 21 to 25 seconds.

Strategies for Defeating Knight Arjun

Having completed the race, Knight Arjun will challenge you with an obstacle course consisting of three tasks: eliminate all boxes, maneuver a crate through a maze, and position the crate on a button to activate and defeat the dummies first.

Instead of individually destroying boxes, use the mushroom launchpad on the right side to pull the chain and drop a bomb on them, facilitating swift destruction.

Next, locate another launchpad atop the crate to catapult yourself into the air.While airborne, throw your shield at the aim board; this will clear a route for dragging the crate across the maze.

After positioning the crate onto the button, activate the dummies. Use the launchpad again to soar up and hit the purple button on the tower’s side. At this point, you can unleash the Shield Surge on the dummies.

If any dummy remains unscathed, you can either defeat it with a flurry of attacks or use the activated purple energy battery to supercharge your shield and deliver a decisive Shield Surge.

Successfully overcoming the Knight will reward you with the “A Place Among Knights”achievement. A brief cutscene will ensue, showcasing the Dame instructing her guards to escort you to her. With the drawbridges now lowered, you can converse with her and continue your quest for Sir Lionstone.
