Georgia WR Ladd McConkey eyes pairing up with Josh Allen after Stefon Diggs’ Texans move
Ladd McConkey, a promising wide receiver prospect, is expected to enter the 2024 NFL Draft with high ratings. According to most mock drafts, he is likely to be chosen in the first three rounds due to his successful college football career with the Georgia Bulldogs. His draft prospects were further boosted during the NFL Combine, where he showcased his impressive speed by running the 40-yard dash in just 4.39 seconds at a height of 6’0″.
After learning of the trade that sent Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans, McConkey is considering teaming up with Josh Allen. In a recent episode of the Up & Adams show, Kay Adams asked him about the potential of this partnership.
“Hey that would be pretty sweet,”McConkey replied. “Yeah, I saw the trade, and I’ve met with them a couple of times. Liked their organization, so let’s go.”
During the 2024 NFL free agency period, the Bills found themselves in need of a wide receiver after trading Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans and losing Gabe Davis to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Josh Allen’s current lack of offensive weapons is a significant change for a team that has had one of the most successful passing offenses in the NFL in recent years.
A potential solution to this issue could be to utilize the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, scheduled to commence on April 25th in Detroit.
Ladd McConkey NFL Draft Outlook
According to several NFL scouts, Ladd McConkey is projected to be selected towards the end of the first round in the 2024 NFL Draft. Despite his height of 6’0, he is highly regarded for his precise route running abilities. He is likely to be utilized as a slot receiver in most NFL offenses, and his impressive speed has been showcased in his 40-yard dash.
Tony Pauline’s most recent mock draft predicts that McConkey will be selected in the late-first to early-second round range during the draft. Specifically, Pauline believes that he will be the first pick of the second round, chosen by the Carolina Panthers.
The Buffalo Bills are currently in possession of the 28th pick in the first round, meaning that McConkey could potentially be a viable choice for the team. While Pauline believes the Bills will use this pick to select a wide receiver, he predicts that they will ultimately choose Texas Longhorns standout Adonai Mitchell instead.
