Overview of Version 5.5 Features
- New locale: the Great Volcano of Tollan in Natlan, introducing various quests and a significant adventure.
- Inclusion of a new Artifact Domain and a World Boss, accessible from the Stadium of the Sacred Flame.
Recent leaks about Genshin Impact have unveiled an initial glimpse of the Great Volcano of Tollan, set to be featured in the highly anticipated Version 5.5 update. While the Archon Quest for Natlan reached its conclusion in Version 5.3, the narrative continues as players return to this Pyro Nation following their exploration of Inazuma in Version 5.4. The upcoming expansion promises to deepen the Traveler’s quest within this vibrant region.
The expansion marks the third addition of the Natlan map and is poised to offer a wealth of content, including both aerial and subterranean exploration. Situated on the northern slopes of the volcano, the Collective of Plenty will play a key role. Players can enhance their standing with the Electro Tribe by undertaking missions for the Collective, which simultaneously unlocks pathways to Varesa’s unique storyline through the completion of their Tribal Chronicle.
According to insights shared by Ukrisreng, with further elaboration from Uncle Teyvat, the Great Volcano of Tollan is designed as a vast zone located in the southwestern corner of Natlan. Interestingly, the current map image focuses solely on the overworld component; players can expect a separate, equally expansive map for underground exploration. A fitting comparison can be made to The Chasm, recognized as one of Genshin Impact’s most well-received areas. While it is premature to determine if the Great Volcano of Tollan will match the appeal of The Chasm, players can anticipate a thoroughly engaging experience in the upcoming version.
Genshin Impact Leak Unveils Map Details for Version 5.5

Interestingly, the layout provides clues that the Collective of Plenty has established their community within the volcano itself. With the Great Volcano of Tollan being an active site, one might ponder the prudence of this choice. Nonetheless, the presence of Tatankasaurs, known companions of the Collective, suggests that they possess an affinity for enduring the harsh conditions, including potential interactions with Liquid Phlogiston (lava), as inferred from Varesa’s abilities within the Genshin Impact universe.
Access to the new area in Version 5.5 will be facilitated through a fresh pathway originating from the Stadium of the Sacred Flame, with alternatives available, such as swimming over from the People of the Springs. This update will also introduce a novel Artifact Domain and a challenging World Boss for gamers to confront. Mark your calendars: Version 5.5 is set for release on March 26, 2025.
