Genshin Impact Phasing Out PlayStation 4 Support
Today, HoYoverse announced that Genshin Impact will discontinue its support for the PlayStation 4 platform. This decision is primarily driven by the hardware limitations and the increasing size of platform applications.
Timeline for Transition
The gradual phase-out will commence with the game’s removal from the PlayStation Store on September 10. Players who have previously downloaded Genshin Impact will still be able to enjoy the game until April 8, 2026, when official service on the PlayStation 4 will conclude. However, from February 25, in-game purchases will no longer be available. Players can still access items they have purchased but not yet claimed up until the service ends.
Impact on Technical Requirements
Alongside the discontinuation of PlayStation 4 support, there will be an increase in system requirements for the PC and mobile versions of the game. Although devices failing to meet these new requirements may still run the game after the Song of the Welkin Moon update, players using subpar hardware might encounter performance and stability challenges. Fortunately, the updated specifications are manageable, particularly for PC users, meaning most players should experience minimal disruption.
Availability on Other Platforms
As of now, Genshin Impact remains accessible on multiple platforms, including PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. This cross-platform availability ensures that players can continue to enjoy the rich world of Teyvat regardless of their gaming setup.
