Genshin Impact 5.5 Banners Feature Two New Electro Characters and Surprise Rerun

In an exciting announcement during the latest livestream, HoYoverse unveiled the much-anticipated Genshin Impact 5.5 banners, introducing two fresh Electro characters to the game. This marks a significant moment for Natlan, as it is the first introduction of Electro characters since Ororon. While veteran players may already possess a robust Electro team, the new additions are not your standard damage-dealer archetypes. Additionally, the popular bard Venti will be making his return, presenting tough competition with one of the game’s premier support characters.

This guide will provide a comprehensive overview of the Genshin Impact 5.5 banners, detailing character appearances and the launch timeline.

Upcoming Genshin Impact 5.5 Banners: Varesa and Xianyun

The first phase of the Genshin 5.5 banners will launch on March 26, 2025 (with a late rollout on March 25), and will last for the usual three weeks. This phase includes:

  • Varesa (5-star, Electro, Catalyst)
  • Xianyun (5-star, Anemo, Catalyst)
  • Iansan (4-star, Electro, Polearm)

At this time, details regarding the remaining two 4-star characters are still under wraps.

Varesa emerges as the first Electro catalyst wielder since Yae Miko, showcasing impressive plunging attack damage. She efficiently enhances her skill and plunging attacks based on the accumulation of Nightsoul Points. Furthermore, her passive skills increase her attack power whenever an ally enters the Nightsoul Burst state, encouraging players to include at least one Natlan character in her team compositions. Meanwhile, Xianyun is designed to boost party members’ plunging attack damage while also offering healing support, even when she is off the field.

Iansan takes on a versatile role, functioning as both a damage dealer and a support character. Her skills enhance mobility and can elevate the active character’s attack by up to 27%.Additionally, her passive abilities allow for healing teammates when an ally enters the Nightsoul Burst state.

As is customary, the signature weapons linked to these 5-star characters will be available on the Epitome Invocation weapon banner. Varesa will wield the Vivid Notions catalyst, while Xianyun will use Crane’s Echoing Call. Iansan will not have an associated signature weapon.

Second Phase of Genshin Impact 5.5 Banners: Venti and Xilonen

The subsequent phase of Version 5.5’s banners is set to commence on April 15, 2025. Venti, despite his declining standing in the metagame over the years, makes his first return since November 2023. Joining him is Xilonen, making her inaugural rerun, an appealing option for those looking to counter enemy resistances.

Both Venti and Xilonen possess skills that can reduce enemy elemental resistance: Venti utilizes frequent Swirl reactions, while Xilonen relies on the elemental composition of the party. Xilonen allows for more targeted resistance reduction, whereas Venti excels at grouping enemies, an ability Xilonen lacks.

Venti’s signature weapon, Elegy for the End, significantly enhances his elemental mastery, an indispensable buff. Xilonen will wield the Peak Patrol Song, a sword that amplifies elemental damage across the party while also fortifying the user’s defense. This synergy is particularly beneficial as Xilonen’s abilities scale with her defense.
