Genshin Impact 5.8 Banners Release: Introducing Ineffa and Reruns of Citlali and Mualani

During its latest livestream, HoYoverse unveiled the much-anticipated Genshin Impact 5.8 banners. Unlike the typical summer banners, which tend to be mediocre, this year’s lineup is generating a buzz among the community. A standout feature is the introduction of a new character from Nod-Krai, accompanied by a long-awaited Electro-Charged update. Additionally, several characters from Natlan are making their first return, including one that has rapidly ascended to the top tier of Genshin’s competitive landscape.

In this overview, we will detail the characters featured in both phases of the Genshin Impact 5.8 banners and what players can look forward to.

The initial phase of the banners launches alongside the version update, set to go live on July 30, 2025, or July 29, based on your time zone. Ineffa, the only new character debuting in Genshin 5.8, is an Electro polearm user. Her significant battle mechanic involves transforming the Electro-Charged reaction—often seen as one of Genshin’s weaker elemental interactions—into a more powerful Lunar-Charged version, which not only inflicts additional Electro damage but also has the potential to trigger critical hits.

Joining her in this phase is Citlali, who makes her first rerun. Citlali gained popularity with her unique ability to reduce Hydro and Pyro resistance. With the recent introduction of Mavuika and the peak performance of Furina teams, her resistance reductions remain highly valuable. Citlali excels as a support character thanks to unmatched shielding capacity and Cryo application, making her an indispensable addition to many teams.

Phase Two of Genshin Impact 5.8 Banners – Mualani and Chasca

On August 20, 2025, the second phase of the banners will feature the return of Mualani and Chasca. Mualani is a Hydro catalyst character known for her unique movement ability, where she rides her pet shark. In battle, her shark can mark enemies, increasing the damage they receive. Unusually for a catalyst user, Mualani is designed primarily as a DPS character, capable of delivering rapid and heavy damage.

Chasca, on the other hand, wields a polearm that inexplicably transforms into a gun during combat. Her standout ability allows her to imbue her ammunition with the party’s elemental types, facilitating not just Swirl reactions but also triggering Pyro, Hydro, Cryo, and Electro interactions effectively—making her a versatile asset to any team composition.
