Gen V actor Chance Perdomo dead at 27 after motocycle accident
Despite being only 27 years old, Chance Perdomo, known for his roles in Gen V and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident. On March 30, his representatives confirmed his death and stated that no other individuals were involved in the incident.
The statement released by his representatives stated:
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Chance Perdomo’s untimely passing as a result of a motorcycle accident. Authorities have advised that no other individuals were involved. His passion for the arts and insatiable appetite for life was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth will carry on in those who he loved dearest. We ask to please respect the family’s wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their beloved son and brother.”
Perdomo starred as Ambrose Spellman in Netflix’s The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and also played the role of Andre Anderson in Amazon Prime’s Gen V.
The rise of Chance Perdomo: A look into his life and successful acting career
Chance Perdomo, who was born in Los Angeles in 1996, relocated to Southampton, England with his mother when he was a child. Having an Afro-Latino background, he was a dual citizen of both the United States and the United Kingdom. Despite initially planning to study Law, Perdomo decided to move to London after completing his college education in order to pursue a career in acting. He became a member of the National Youth Theatre and received training at the Identity School of Acting.
Perdomo’s acting career kicked off with his role as Henry Goodall in CBBC’s Hetty Feather. He later took on the character of Jerome in BBC Three’s Killed By My Debt, which led to a Best Actor nomination at the British Academy Television Awards.
In 2018, he began portraying Ambrose Spellman in Netflix’s The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, appearing alongside talented actors such as Kiernan Shipka, Ross Lynch, and Jaz Sinclair. In 2023, he joined forces with Sinclair once again in Amazon Prime’s Gen V, a spinoff of the beloved superhero show The Boys.
In addition to his role in the After films alongside Josephine Langford and Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Chance Perdomo portrayed Landon Gibson from 2021 to 2023. However, production on the second season of Gen V has been indefinitely halted following his death.
The scheduled date for the season 2 table read was March 30, and filming was planned to commence on April 8 in Toronto.
The creators of Gen V utilized social media to express their thoughts on Perdomo’s passing. Through a statement posted on the Gen V social media pages, they conveyed:
“We can’t quite wrap our heads around this. For those of us who knew him and worked with him, Chance was always charming and smiling, an enthusiastic force of nature, an incredibly talented performer, and more than anything else, just a very kind, lovely person. Even writing about him in the past tense doesn’t make sense. We are so sorry for Chance’s family, and we are grieving the loss of our friend and colleague. Hug your loved ones tonight.”
A joint statement was also released by Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television through their respective social media channels. The statement stated:
“The entire Gen V family is devastated by the sudden passing of Chance Perdomo. Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television extend our heartfelt thoughts and support to Chance’s family and all who loved him at this difficult time.”
Despite the unfortunate event, it remains uncertain how Gen V’s second season will progress without Chance Perdomo. The actor recently completed filming for the indie action-comedy Bad Man, which will serve as his final feature film. As of now, Bad Man does not have a release date.
