Exciting Updates for Google’s Gemini Live Voice Chat
This week, Google’s interactive voice chat feature, Gemini Live, received significant updates coinciding with the launch of new Pixel devices at the Made by Google event. These enhancements aim to streamline user interactions within Google’s ecosystem.
New Integrations for Enhancing Productivity
Gemini Live now offers expanded integration for Google Workspace users, allowing seamless interaction with essential apps and services like Calendar, Tasks, and Keep. This integration facilitates two-way conversations where users can inquire about their upcoming meetings or check overdue tasks right from the Gemini chatbot.
Adding and Managing Tasks with Ease
The capabilities of Gemini Live extend beyond simple inquiries. Users can utilize the chatbot to add, modify, or delete calendar entries and tasks. For example, by scanning written notes, users can easily create a new Google Keep note, or simply point their camera at an invitation to generate a calendar entry in Google Calendar.

A Brief History of Gemini Live
For those unfamiliar, Gemini Live made its debut last year during the introduction of the Pixel 9 series. Initially available on Pixel devices, it quickly expanded to non-Google Android platforms and was later offered for free to all Android and iOS users. Earlier this year, it was rolled out to multiple Workspace tiers.
Unique Features and Future Prospects
Among the standout features of Gemini Live is its ability to allow interruptions during responses, enabling users to add information on the fly. Additionally, users can share their screen or camera feed for more interactive and context-specific responses. With a rollout to Android Auto already in place, plans for integration into Google’s smart speakers and displays are also underway.
Availability and Access for Users
The new Gemini Live features are being rolled out across various Workspace tiers as well as for those who have purchased Gemini add-ons. Google has stated that Workspace admins won’t have control over enabling this feature; it will be available by default as long as access to the Gemini app is activated. Users should ensure that their Google Workspace apps (formerly extensions) are enabled for proper integration.
