GeForce RTX 5090 Price Falls Under $2800 in Japan; Significant Price Reductions Observed Globally

Recent developments indicate that NVIDIA’s flagship Blackwell series GPUs, particularly the RTX 50 series, are beginning to experience price reductions, although they still substantially exceed their manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) in numerous markets.

Price Reductions for ZOTAC and GAINWARD RTX 5090 GPUs: A Look at Market Trends

Despite over four months since their launch, the pricing for RTX 50 series graphics cards remains unexpectedly high, from entry-level 60-class to premium 90-class models. Availability of NVIDIA’s Blackwell GPUs has been a concern, but the situation is progressively improving. Notably, Japan is witnessing a significant price drop for the flagship GeForce RTX 5090.

Historically, the RTX 5090 has been priced at a minimum of 450, 000 Yen, with some listings surpassing 600, 000 Yen. However, starting June 12, custom editions of the RTX 5090, such as the ZOTAC Gaming GeForce RTX 5090 SOLID and the GAINWARD GeForce RTX 5090 Phantom, have fallen below 400, 000 Yen. According to Gazlog, these models previously retailed for approximately 440, 000 Yen (around $3, 052 USD).

Currently, both models are available for 398, 000 Yen, equivalent to roughly $2, 775, indicating a notable reduction of around $275 from their previous prices. Interestingly, while components are generally more expensive in Japan compared to North America, the RTX 5090 is being offered at a relatively lower price point than in the NA market. Although conditions are improving across North America (NA) and Europe (EU), many RTX 5090 listings still hover around the $3, 000 mark.

On the positive side, the availability of RTX 5090 models has enhanced, particularly following the exit of the RTX 5090D from the Chinese market, which has lessened demand. Retailers such as Amazon and Newegg have been listing certain editions around $2, 700-$2, 800, yet these stocks are swiftly depleting. Meanwhile, models priced above $3, 000 remain more widely available, although the overall price trend is moving in a downward direction.

In the European market, there has been a notable decline, with most RTX 5090 variants now priced between €2, 400 and €2, 500, down from over €2, 600 in May. Although these figures are still significantly higher than the $1, 999 MSRP, there is optimism that prices might dip below $2, 500 in the coming weeks. We advise consumers to consider waiting for further price cuts, as the RTX 5090 continues to struggle to justify its current price above $2, 500.
