GeForce RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti Prices Fall Below MSRP for First Time in Japan

The price of NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards is trending downward, with recent reductions bringing the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5080 closer to their official manufacturer-suggested retail prices (MSRPs).

Latest Price Cuts: RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti See Significant Reductions

Just days ago, updates highlighted a price drop for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 in Japan and other markets. Now, we’re seeing notable reductions for high-end models within the RTX 50 series, particularly the GeForce RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti. As availability improves for these GPUs—originally launched just a few months ago—the pricing adjustments seem justified.

According to a report from Gazlog, the GeForce RTX 5080 has now fallen to 169, 980 Yen (approximately US$1163). This marks its lowest price since its launch. Initially priced at 198, 800 Yen (US$1362), the RTX 5080 had frequently been seen for over 210, 000 Yen (US$1439). This latest price reflects a significant 20% drop from peak prices and is about 15% lower than its official MSRP. While the RTX 5080 debuted at $999 in North America, it’s important to note that prices in Japan tend to be higher due to various factors, including customs duties and shipping costs.

It’s worth mentioning that the current lowest price for the RTX 5080 available is indeed at 169, 980 Yen, specifically for the Gainward GeForce RTX 5080 Phoenix. This particular model is available as part of a limited-time promotion at TSUKUMO. However, many RTX 5080 variants are still priced above 200, 000 Yen on platforms like Amazon. Fortunately, options such as the ZOTAC RTX 5080 Amp Extreme Infinity and Galakuro RTX 5080 can be found listed for under 200, 000 Yen at TSUKUMO.

Turning our attention to the RTX 5070 Ti, a Palit GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Gaming Pro-S edition was recently listed for a price below MSRP at 139, 980 Yen on Amazon—a discount of 6% from its standard price of 148, 800 Yen. Although the official launch price for this model was set at $749, it has typically been sold for over $1000 in Japan. This makes it the first custom edition of the RTX 5070 Ti to dip below the $1000 mark. Additionally, another RTX 5070 Ti version is going for less than MSRP at TSUKUMO.

As we observe these trends, it appears that the entire RTX 50 lineup is gradually moving towards their announced MSRPs, although it may take a few more weeks for this pricing trend to stabilize. More budget-friendly options like the GeForce RTX 5060 are already being offered at their designated price points on major platforms such as Amazon and Newegg. Meanwhile, the GeForce RTX 5070 is trending closer to $600, but potential buyers might consider waiting slightly longer to avoid spending an additional $100-$200.
