As NVIDIA approaches the launch of its GeForce RTX 5060 GPU at Computex, both ASUS and PNY have started to showcase their custom editions on Best Buy, one of North America’s leading retail platforms. ASUS is offering three models, while PNY has listed one.
Pricing Insights: ASUS and PNY GeForce RTX 5060 Custom Editions on Best Buy
The retail debut is slated for May 19th, just a few days away. Following NVIDIA’s recent announcement of the RTX 5060 with a standard price of $299, it’s evident that ASUS’s offerings are priced higher than the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP), hinting at potential pricing trends in the current GPU market.
ASUS GPU Variants and Their Prices
Reflecting the latest market dynamics, ASUS has positioned the TUF Gaming OC edition at a staggering $409.99, which exceeds the Founders Edition’s MSRP by over $100. Additionally, the base Prime edition RTX 5060 is listed at $339, offering standard frequencies comparable to the Founders Edition, yet lacking the overclocking capabilities. For users seeking enhanced performance, the PRIME RTX 5060 OC carries a price tag of $379.99, which is also $80 above the official MSRP.
Technical Specifications and Form Factor
Exact clock speeds remain unspecified, raising questions about whether the incremental cost is justified for just a modest increase of 50-100 MHz. As for their dimensions, the TUF Gaming OC variant is a robust 3.25-slot card, while the PRIME and PRIME OC models are slightly more compact, measuring 2.5 slots in thickness. All variants exceed 300 mm in length, surpassing the dimensions of the Founders Edition. Interestingly, the specified thermal design power (TDP) indicates a figure of 250W, which exceeds the RTX 5060’s rated TDP of 145W; while overclocked models may approach higher ratings, it is unlikely that they will exceed 200W.
PNY’s Competitive Pricing
On the other hand, PNY has confirmed its RTX 5060 Dual-Fan edition is still priced at a competitive $299.99, as listed last week. However, without definitive information on price stability, it remains to be seen if this price will hold through the retail launch. Historical data from previous RTX 50 series card launches suggest that prices can fluctuate quickly once the retail embargo is lifted.
As the launch date approaches, these developments highlight both the competitive nature of the GPU market and the potential challenges faced by consumers seeking to purchase GPUs at or near MSRP.
