GeForce NOW Expands with Avowed and DOOM: The Dark Ages; Upcoming Support for Steam Deck, Meta Quest, and Apple Vision Pro

NVIDIA Enhances GeForce NOW at CES 2025

During the exciting keynote at CES 2025, NVIDIA showcased significant updates for its popular cloud gaming service, GeForce NOW. Notably, two much-anticipated titles, Avowed by Obsidian Entertainment and DOOM: The Dark Ages from id Software, are set to be available on the platform, generating considerable anticipation among gamers.

Upcoming Releases: Avowed

Scheduled for release on February 18 for PC and Xbox Series S|X, Avowed promises to deliver a fresh take on the beloved Eora universe, which fans recognized from the Pillars of Eternity series. Having experienced a demo build recently, I shared my insights in a comprehensive preview:

While it may not reach the monumental success of titles like Skyrim or Baldur’s Gate 3, it appears to be a captivating addition to Obsidian’s portfolio, advancing the narrative and gameplay established in their prior first-person RPGs. The robust worldbuilding from the Pillars of Eternity saga is sure to enrich this new adventure, seamlessly engaging both longtime fans and newcomers alike.

Future Title: DOOM: The Dark Ages

On the other hand, DOOM: The Dark Ages is still awaiting a release date but will feature cutting-edge technologies like path tracing and DLSS 4. Although GeForce NOW’s servers will not initially support DLSS 4, users subscribed to the Ultimate tier will continue to benefit from DLSS 3 capabilities.

Expanded Access Across Devices

In addition to game announcements, NVIDIA revealed plans to extend GeForce NOW to various devices, including the Valve Steam Deck. While NVIDIA shared a beta installation option in May, a fully functional native app is set to launch later this year, enhancing accessibility for gamers.

Expansion into VR and MR

Moreover, GeForce NOW is branching out to virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR)) devices such as the Meta Quest 3 and Apple Vision Pro. Starting this month, users on these platforms will be able to access GeForce NOW directly via their web browsers by navigating to this page.

Global Expansion: New Regions and Data Centers

Finally, NVIDIA is expanding its services into India later this year, coinciding with the inception of a new RTX 4080-powered data center. Additionally, there are plans to incorporate Thailand into the GeForce NOW roster through a partnership with Brothers Pictures.
