Where to Find the Ability Capsule in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Some Pokémon are usually born with two abilities. For example, Ralts can be born with either Trace or Synchronize. Ability Capsules allow you to switch Pokémon’s abilities to ones they don’t have. Here’s where to find the Ability Capsule in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

Ability Capsule Locations in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Ability capsules can be purchased from any Chansey Supply once you’ve completed the main story. It costs 100,000 ₽. Chansey supplies can be found in Mesagos, Cascarraf, Levincia and Montenever.

If you’re late to the game to face six-star tera raids, they sometimes drop ability capsules as well. You’ll know it’s a six-star Tera Raid if the star symbol used to craft Tera crystals on your map is black.

Each Pokémon also has hidden abilities. Instead of an ability capsule, you’ll need an ability patch if you want to access their hidden abilities. Ability patches cannot be purchased. They only drop as a reward after six-star Tera Raids. It also never guarantees that you will receive it.

Of course, just because ability patches are rare doesn’t mean hidden abilities are the best your Pokémon can have. For example, Ursaring with Gut and Swift Legs, which boosts stats after status effects are applied to it, is arguably better compared to Non-Nervous (its hidden ability). Unnerve prevents enemy Pokémon from eating Berries. Sometimes it’s good for PvP, but Guts and Quick Feet are better for general use and most fights. Just equip Ursaring with a status item!
