Galaxy S25 Slim to Include Snapdragon 8 Elite with Overclocked Performance Cores, Yet Faces Low Multi-Core Performance Score

Recent reports suggest that Samsung is set to launch four variants of its Galaxy S25 series instead of the expected three. Among these will be an all-new model dubbed the “Slim.”Initial evidence of the Galaxy S25 Slim has emerged through recent benchmark leaks, indicating that it will feature Qualcomm’s advanced Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Notably, even with its slim design, the Snapdragon 8 Elite will boast performance cores running at slightly higher frequencies. However, preliminary scores from the benchmark tests reveal a troubling performance aspect for the new flagship.

Geekbench 6 Results Indicate Mixed Performance for Galaxy S25 Slim

The Galaxy S25 Slim, identified by the model number SM-S937U, will come equipped with 12GB of RAM—just like the standard Galaxy S25 model tested in earlier leaks. The Snapdragon 8 Elite includes two performance cores operating at 4.47GHz, while the efficiency cores will clock in at 3.53GHz. It’s worth noting that the internal specifications of the Galaxy S25 Slim align closely with the rest of the lineup, except for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which may offer up to 16GB of RAM.

However, raw specifications aren’t the sole indicators of a device’s performance. In the latest Geekbench 6 assessments, the Galaxy S25 Slim shows promise in its single-core score but stumbles in multi-core performance. It achieved a single-core score of 3,005, which is a slight improvement over previous results for the Galaxy S25, though still close to the margin of error. In contrast, the multi-core score was significantly lower at 6,945, raising questions about the implications of such results. The slim chassis may be responsible for this underwhelming performance, as it may cause the Snapdragon 8 Elite to heat up rapidly and throttle under intensive tasks.
