
Earlier this year, Samsung unveiled its slimmest smartphone yet, the Galaxy S25 Edge, which quickly captured the interest of the technology community. While it largely mirrors the features of the Galaxy S25 Plus, its standout characteristic is its sleek profile, measuring just 5.8mm in thickness. However, this design choice has led to concerns regarding potential compromises in battery life and the omission of an additional camera sensor. Users are particularly anxious about its durability under pressure, prompting recent tests to evaluate the phone’s resistance to bending.
Durability Test: YouTuber Validates the Strength of the Galaxy S25 Edge
In an extensive assessment of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, tech YouTuber JerryRigEverything put the device through a rigorous durability test. The results revealed that the phone successfully endured the bend test, proving its resilience against everyday wear and tear. According to JerryRigEverything, the device emerged from the test completely intact and operational.
Before the bending experiment, Zack, the host of JerryRigEverything, also executed a scratch test to compare the display’s durability with that of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Consistent with results from previous tests, the S25 Edge displayed scratches beginning at a level 6, with deeper indentations appearing by level 7. Following this, Zack employed a lighter to apply heat to the screen, which impressively withstood the flames without any visible damage.
The results of the bend test were particularly noteworthy, alleviating initial concerns regarding the thin design potentially compromising the device’s structural integrity. Utilizing a titanium chassis, Samsung seemed to have successfully maintained durability; despite a slight flex when subjected to significant force, the back panel exhibited minimal elevation. Although this minor flex could potentially impact the phone’s water-resistance features, it demonstrated no significant structural damage.
Zack expressed his astonishment at the S25 Edge’s performance, encouraging users to feel confident about the device’s durability—even under substantial pressure. This revelation heightens curiosity regarding how Apple will approach similar structural challenges with its upcoming iPhone 17 Air, anticipated to measure a slender 5.5mm. This narrower design may pose durability risks, and it will be interesting to observe how Apple maintains strength in this thinner frame.
