- Fans can look forward to the debut of Season 1: Eternal Night Falls on January 10.
The team behind Marvel Rivals has announced that the first season will offer an unusually rich experience, featuring twice the content typically found in a season. Generally, a season in Marvel Rivals lasts around three months, punctuated by significant mid-season updates. Enthusiasts eager to dive into Season 1: Eternal Night Falls won’t have to wait much longer, as it is set to launch on January 10 at 1 AM PST.
In a recent update, NetEase Games detailed the exciting array of content slated for this season. Players will discover three new maps showcasing significant landmarks in New York City. The inaugural map, the Sanctum Sanctorum, will be available right at the season’s outset, setting the stage for the newly introduced Doom Match game mode. Additionally, the Midtown map will facilitate Convoy missions, immersing heroes in dynamic street battles. More information regarding the Central Park map is anticipated ahead of the mid-season update, promising further exploration opportunities.
A Supersized Experience Awaits: Marvel Rivals Season 1
Guangyun Chen, the Creative Director of Marvel Rivals, emphasized the exciting direction for future seasons in a recent Dev Vision video. He confirmed that Season 1 includes “double the playable content of a regular season.”The decision to launch The Fantastic Four as a cohesive unit was made with player enthusiasm in mind, resulting in the lengthier season. With the start of Season 1, players will see the additions of Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman, who will serve distinct roles: Mister Fantastic as a Duelist and Invisible Woman as a Strategist.
As the season progresses, players can anticipate the arrivals of The Thing and Human Torch in a mid-season update occurring approximately six to seven weeks post-launch. While the developers have indicated that this season is notably expanded, they have yet to specify how this might affect the introduction of new features, maps, or game modes in the future. As a baseline expectation, it seems likely that developers will continue the trend of adding two heroes or villains with each new season.
Despite the excitement surrounding Season 1, some fans expressed disappointment over the absence of the character Blade, who many believed would fit seamlessly into the game’s expanding lineup, especially in combat against Dracula. However, the possibility of Blade’s introduction remains open in future seasons. With a wealth of new content and ongoing speculation about the beloved hero shooter, players are eager to see what innovative steps NetEase Games will take next.
