Based on actual events, Lifetime’s The Girl Who Wasn’t Dead recounts the story of 15-year-old Erica (Emma Tremblay), who mysteriously disappeared. While law enforcement suspected that Erica had fallen victim to a local serial killer, her mother, Carrie, refused to entertain the darkest possibilities.

In a surprising twist, three years later, Erica resurfaced during her own murder trial. Contrary to initial beliefs, she had not been abducted; instead, she chose to escape and lived in seclusion with her 21-year-old boyfriend, Andrew (Kyle Clark), surprisingly just a mile away from her mother’s residence.

This gripping movie debuts as part of Lifetime’s Ripped from the Headlines series, which features six new original films set to air this fall. The Girl Who Wasn’t Dead is scheduled to premiere on October 5, 2024, on the Lifetime channel.

1. Lyndsy Fonseca as Carrie

Lyndsy Marie Fonseca is an American actress who began her career as Colleen Carlton on the CBS daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless from 2001 to 2005. She later gained recognition for recurring roles as Penny Mosby on the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother, as Donna on HBO’s Big Love, and as Dylan Mayfair on ABC’s Desperate Housewives.

Fonseca also starred as Alex Udinov on The CW’s Nikita and portrayed Angie Martinelli on ABC’s Agent Carter. Her filmography includes standout performances as Jenny in Hot Tub Time Machine (2010) and Katie Deauxma in Kick-Ass (2010) along with its sequel in 2013. In The Girl Who Wasn’t Dead, she plays Carrie, the mother who steadfastly believed her daughter was alive.

2. Emma Tremblay as Erica
