Frostpunk 2 Day One Patch, Modding Tools, and Soundtrack Released

On Friday, 11 bit studios launched its long-awaited post-apocalyptic city builder sequel, Frostpunk 2, on PC. The game is now available via platforms including Steam, the Epic Games Store, GOG, and the Microsoft Store, and it supports PC Game Pass. Our review gave it a thumbs up with a solid 9 out of 10 score.

Following the launch, 11 bit studios promptly released a Day One patch for Frostpunk 2. You can review the detailed patch notes on its Steam page. This update includes extensive gameplay adjustments, balance changes, and enhancements addressing issues in artwork, user interface, and various features.

In addition to the game’s launch, 11 bit studios introduced FrostKit, the official modding tools tailored for Frostpunk 2. Initially, FrostKit is being released in a beta version.

The developer has stated:

With the FrostKit, you will be able to create custom maps, populate them with unique models, and set your new cities—whether they are ancient, cosmic, or differ in countless other ways from the original frosty-apocalypse setting—against custom scenarios.

This marks a significant shift for the team, as the original Frostpunk utilized an in-house engine that did not accommodate modding. However, with Frostpunk 2 transitioning to Epic’s Unreal Engine, 11 bit studios was able to develop and launch the FrostKit mod tools.

Furthermore, the game features Twitch integration, enabling game streamers to easily start live gameplay sessions on Twitch.

Lastly, the Frostpunk 2 Original Game Soundtrack is now available to stream on major music platforms such as Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, Deezer, and Tidal. There are also plans for Frostpunk 2 to be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in the future.
