FromSoftware Issues Apology for Major Server Problems During Elden Ring Nightreign Test

Upcoming Network Tests for Elden Ring Nightreign

The excitement around FromSoftware’s latest installment in the Elden Ring universe, Nightreign, builds as its release date of May 30, 2025, approaches. However, eager fans recently faced significant challenges during the initial network tests, which sought to evaluate the game’s server capacity ahead of its launch. Unfortunately, many participants struggled to progress beyond the login screen.

Server Access Challenges

Players on both Xbox and PlayStation platforms quickly encountered accessibility issues from the outset of the stress test. I personally experienced this connectivity problem on my Xbox Series X, confirming widespread reports of server access errors. Since this test is designed explicitly to stress test cooperative multiplayer servers, it is understandable that offline gameplay was not an option for testers.

FromSoftware’s Response to Issues

In response to these connectivity problems, FromSoftware addressed the matter via social media, explaining that the servers were overwhelmed, which hindered players’ ability to find matches. They encouraged participants to continue attempting to connect. Subsequently, the developers announced that the PlayStation servers would undergo maintenance, effectively blocking those players from accessing the network test.

Apologies and Future Plans

After the test’s conclusion, FromSoftware issued an apology to players dissatisfied with the initial testing experience, acknowledging the issues that arose. However, there may be promising news on the horizon, as the studio is contemplating an additional testing phase to compensate for the disruptions faced during the first session.
