Freedom Wars Remastered: Update 1.6 Release Notes

Update Overview

  • The March update for Freedom Wars Remastered has launched, implementing crucial bug fixes and gameplay enhancements.
  • Future updates will introduce weapon balancing and new quality-of-life improvements.

Freedom Wars Remastered recently unveiled a significant update aimed at improving gameplay stability and user experience. The latest patch from developer Dimps focuses on fixing various bugs and enhancing overall performance for this action RPG, which made its debut across multiple platforms in January 2025.

Originally released as a PS Vita exclusive in 2014, Freedom Wars transitioned to various systems after the remastered version hit PC, PS5, PS4, and Switch. This remaster not only upgraded the resolution and framerate but also added exciting features, including a new difficulty tier and an enhanced weapon crafting mechanism. Unfortunately, the launch faced heavy criticism on Steam due to numerous technical glitches in the PC version—ranging from performance slowdowns to intermittent crashes. Since then, Dimps has committed to resolving these concerns, rolling out four significant patches to date.

On March 4, 2025, the latest update followed the previous patches released in January and February, targeting various issues reported by players navigating the intricate systems of this engaging third-person action game. The new patch resolves notable issues such as game crashes in Request Cooperation rooms, a progression halt at CODE 6 events, and fails in loadout changes not displaying prior to missions. Additionally, players on PC can once again change the direction of charged heavy melee attacks seamlessly, and PS4 users can now select spawn points without complications during Vs. Operations.

In addition to bug fixes, the update brings several gameplay modifications, including improved behavior for Accessories, refined hit detection for the Large Abductor’s attacks, and matchmaking enhancements. Notable features now include a dash move activated by holding down the dodge button and the ability to convert private rooms into custom multiplayer rooms. The development team at Freedom Wars Remastered has hinted that future patches will focus on weapon balancing and other user-requested enhancements.

The consistency of updates within a short span indicates Dimps’ dedication to regaining player trust, especially in light of the rocky start experienced by the PC version. However, it remains uncertain whether these improvements will significantly enhance Bandai Namco’s reputation on Steam, where the game currently holds a “Mixed”status among player reviews.
