Nintendo Unveils Switch 2 Upgrade Plans for Existing Games
Following the announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2, the gaming giant has revealed detailed information regarding free update patches for popular titles. Notably, games such as ARMS and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will benefit from enhancements available on June 5, 2025—the same day the new console launches.
Game-Specific Enhancements
The enhancements differ significantly between titles. For instance, ARMS will receive a comprehensive update that includes graphical optimizations and an elevated frame rate. When docked to a compatible TV, the game will also support HDR (High Dynamic Range), enhancing visual depth and color accuracy.
On the other hand, the updates for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are more modest, focusing on improved visuals and frame rate enhancements to ensure smoother gameplay experiences.
New Features and GameShare Support
Many of the upcoming free updates will also introduce GameShare functionality for Switch 2 users. Highlights include:
- Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain: Featuring both online and local GameChat, supporting up to four players in Party Mode.
- Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker: Now supports GameChat for local or online multiplayer for up to two players, in addition to new visual enhancements and HDR compatibility.
- Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics: Allowing local and online multiplayer for four players with integrated GameChat.
- Super Mario Odyssey: Enhanced graphics, HDR support, multiplayer capabilities through GameChat for two players.
- Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury: Improved visuals and HDR, along with GameShare support for up to four players.
