Free New Story DLC Coming to Assassin’s Creed Mirage Two Years After Launch

Exciting News for Assassin’s Creed Mirage Players

The Assassin’s Creed series has made a remarkable return to its roots with the release of Assassin’s Creed Mirage in 2023. This installment has drawn players back into its engaging stealth-action gameplay set in the vibrant Islamic Golden Age of the ninth century. Players once again assume the role of an assassin targeting the early Templar order’s predecessors. Following a string of previous RPG-focused titles, fans were delighted to see Ubisoft shift gears, focusing on a more concentrated gaming experience.

New Expansion Announcement

In a surprising announcement made during the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Ubisoft revealed a brand-new story expansion for Mirage. This upcoming content will transport the protagonist, Basim Ibn Ishaq, from the bustling streets of Baghdad to the historically rich region of AlUla. This enchanting oasis city is steeped in history and provides a fresh landscape for players to explore.

Rumors of New Content

The announcement came as somewhat of a surprise, as many anticipated that the game was in a ‘completed content’ phase. However, an earlier report by Les Echos hinted at a partnership between Ubisoft and the Savvy Games Group in Saudi Arabia, suggesting new content was on the horizon for this two-year-old title.

Details on the Upcoming DLC

Ubisoft has promised that this downloadable content (DLC) will feature an entirely new narrative chapter along with missions set in the captivating landscapes of AlUla. Players will have the opportunity to engage in parkour and combat within exciting new scenarios, enhancing the gameplay experience significantly. Best of all, this major update is expected to be available for free to all game owners and will include additional gameplay improvements, although specific details about these enhancements were not disclosed.

Future Developments

This unnamed free DLC is anticipated to be released sometime in 2025. Additionally, fans should note that Ubisoft Bordeaux is also hard at work on the Claws of Awaji expansion for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which is set to launch in September.

Return to the Series’ Roots

Mirage was developed primarily by Ubisoft Bordeaux and aims to steer the franchise back to its core stealth-action gameplay. It emphasizes urban exploration, parkour, stealth, and assassinations, providing a more focused experience compared to recent entries, which leaned heavily on RPG elements. Initially conceived as an expansion for Valhalla, it evolved into a standalone title with a broader scope.
