CAPCOM Launches Free Benchmark for Monster Hunter Wilds

Today, CAPCOM has released a free benchmarking tool for the highly anticipated game, Monster Hunter Wilds. This benchmark enables PC players to evaluate their hardware’s performance capabilities before the game’s official launch. The benchmark is sizable, requiring 24.8 GB of storage space, and can be downloaded directly from Steam.

Benchmark Scoring System

As part of CAPCOM’s standard practice, users will receive a performance score at the end of the benchmarking process. Below is a breakdown of the scoring ranges provided by CAPCOM:

Score Range Performance Level
20, 000 and above Excellent
13, 000 – 19, 999 Good
10, 250 – 12, 999 Playable
7, 000 – 10, 249 Setting Changes Recommended
5, 200 – 6, 999 Setting Changes Required
Below 5, 199 Difficulty Playing

Benchmark Gameplay Details

The benchmark is extensive, combining cinematic cutscenes and open-world exploration, though it does not include combat sequences. As anticipated, users may experience a higher frame rate during cutscenes than during gameplay.

In my testing at 4K resolution, with NVIDIA DLAA enabled and all graphical settings maximum (including ray tracing) on a high-end PC (Ryzen 7 9800X3D + GeForce RTX 5090), I achieved an impressive score of 21, 896 and an average frame rate of 127.98 FPS. Notably, this setup utilized the standard NVIDIA DLSS CNN model and experienced x2 Frame Generation, as DLSS 4 and Multi Frame Generation are not yet supported.
