Frankie Valli Promises Fans He Will Continue Performing Live After Viral Lip-Syncing Video

Frankie Valli has recently addressed the rumors stemming from a viral video that depicted him appearing disoriented and lip-syncing during a live performance. The footage from the iconic Four Seasons singer’s concert at the New Brunswick State Theatre on September 27, along with clips from other shows, circulated widely on social media, highlighting Valli’s apparent reliance on backup vocals and how he was mouthing the lyrics to his songs.

This sparked a wave of speculation regarding Valli’s health, with some fans suggesting he was being compelled to perform against his will. In a response to People magazine on September 30, Valli clarified that no one was forcing him to perform.

“I get a chuckle from the comments wondering if someone is forcing me to go on stage. Nobody has ever made me do anything I didn’t want to do,”Valli stated, adding, “I plan to be doing shows as long as I can, delivering that great Four Seasons sound. Like that line in Jersey Boys, I’m like that bunny on TV, that just keeps going and going and going. Chasing the music.”

“I am blessed to be 90 years old and still be doing what I love to do”— Frankie Valli addresses rumors about his health

Following his September 27 performance, many social media users began to express concern for the legendary singer’s well-being. He was captured mouthing the lyrics to his classic 1978 hit “Grease,”and several of his performances displaying signs of exhaustion also gained traction, particularly on TikTok.

According to People magazine, viral videos included moments where Valli struggled with choreography during “December 1963 (Oh What a Night)”and forgot some lyrics to “Bye, Bye, Baby (Baby, Goodbye).”Valli mentioned he had seen various comments online and wanted to “clear the air.”

“I am blessed to be 90 years old and still be doing what I love to do. As long as I am able, and audiences want to come see me, I am going to be out there performing as I always do. I absolutely love what I do. And I know we put on a great show because our fans are still coming out in force and the show still rocks,”Valli expressed.

Valli also elaborated on the production of his performances, explaining that The Four Seasons’ sound revolved around “layering vocals and instruments,”capitalizing on their 60 years of experience to emulate their original recordings. In addition to his own singing, he benefited from “great arrangements”that included contributions from other talented singers.

This isn’t the first occasion Frankie Valli has addressed concerns regarding his health and concert performances. A video from his August 3, 2024, concert at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga, California, showed him struggling to move and sing, which also went viral. In response to the fan worry, the singer’s team announced on Facebook:

“Frankie is doing just fine and is super happy to be still performing. The audiences are filling venues and listening to some great music. Frankie is doing what he loves at 90… we should be so lucky.”

Frankie Valli celebrated his 90th birthday in May 2024. In line with his commitment to performing, Valli and The Four Seasons are scheduled to continue their national tour until April 2025.
