The newly launched 5v5 hero shooter, FragPunk, finds itself facing significant hurdles as players voice their discontent with its monetization practices. Released on March 6, this free-to-play title has garnered a decent player base, yet numerous concerns have surfaced among its community.

Developed by Bad Guitar Studio, FragPunk introduces players to a unique Shard Card system that allows for modified gameplay mechanics, such as reviving teammates, altering jump heights, and preventing enemy healing. With a selection of 12 heroes and various game modes across multiple maps, the game initially attracted attention. However, a major issue has since overshadowed the positive aspects.

True to the pattern observed in many free-to-play games, FragPunk employs a dense monetization framework that has left players frustrated. Currently, Steam reviews reflect this sentiment, as users lament the sheer volume of microtransactions required to enjoy the game fully. Notably, having nine distinct in-game currencies has been labeled as excessive. Additional monetization elements include two premium battle passes, separate memberships, and various weapon and lancer skin cards. Critics have even gone so far as to suggest that the developers may have primarily designed the game as a platform for selling cosmetic items.
