Following the casting announcement for Kratos in the highly anticipated God of War TV series, Amazon has turned the spotlight onto its other gaming adaptation: Tomb Raider. This time, the unveiling centers around costume design rather than casting, showcasing Sophie Turner in her role as the indomitable archaeologist, Lara Croft.

Turner, confirmed for the role in September 2025, marks a significant point in the series’ development, with filming set to commence in 2026. Recent casting announcements have introduced key figures such as Jason Isaacs portraying Lara’s uncle, alongside Sigourney Weaver, who will feature as a new character intent on harnessing Lara’s unique expertise.
The ensemble cast also includes Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Bill Paterson, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie, and August Wittgenstein, most of whom will embody original characters tailored specifically for this adaptation, with the exception of Turner, Isaacs, and Bobb-Semple.
This project was first announced in May 2024, and the creative team has established a solid foundation: Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the Emmy Award-winning writer, is set to be the showrunner, executive producer, and one of the primary writers. As filming approaches, fans eagerly await further insights into the storyline and the vision Amazon brings to the beloved franchise.
