Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Found Season 2, Episode 9. The winter premiere of Found has arrived, introducing a cascade of revelations that promise to shape the remainder of Season 2. Titled “Missing While Targeted,”the episode unfolds with an intense scenario: Dhan is urgently taken to the hospital after being shot during an atypical case. In a poignant scene, Ethan confronts Gabi, expressing his anger and blaming her for Dhan’s critical state and the existing fractures in their marriage. The climax reveals a precarious confrontation between Sir and Trent at Trent’s home, culminating in the sound of a gunshot.
While these moments left viewers stunned, an earlier development grabbed attention when Sir confronted Gabi at the school, revealing he knows the fate of Margaret’s son, Jamie. The shocking twist sees Sir getting knocked out by an unseen attacker, suggesting that someone is aiding him. Despite Margaret’s ongoing quest for answers since Jamie’s disappearance thirteen years ago, showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll assures audiences that this season will unravel one of the series’ most enduring mysteries.
In an exclusive interview with ScreenRant, Okoro Carroll discusses the cliffhangers from the winter premiere, Trent’s reaction to Sir’s claims about his father, and the future of Margaret’s pursuit of the truth in Found Season 2.
Dhan’s Near-Death Experience Highlights the Risks of M&A’s Work
“They are regular citizens. They are not cops. They didn’t go to special training to be these sort of vigilantes of sorts.”

ScreenRant: The winter premiere was packed with surprises. Dhan gets shot, and we hear a gunshot during the standoff between Trent and Sir. What drove the decision to include both cliffhangers in this episode?
Nkechi Okoro Carroll: When we kicked off the writers’ room, we didn’t yet have our airing schedule set. I thought to myself, “Any episode could become our winter finale or premiere.” Thus, we approached every episode as if it were a mid-season finale—making it an exhilarating writing process! This build-up brought Dhan’s incident and the standoff to a head in the winter premiere, which worked perfectly.
Given the personal journey Gabi is undergoing this season, she grapples with themes of atonement and accountability for her past actions, particularly regarding Sir and the disruption she has caused in her team’s lives. Sir’s actions have far-reaching consequences for each member of M&A, and as they face escalating challenges, it was imperative for those moments to build towards genuine repercussions—leading to the intense school confrontation with Gabi and Sir regarding Trent’s deeply personal connection to the case at hand.
The climax had to be a direct face-off: gunpoint to gunpoint, showcasing two contrasting worldviews—one adhering to law and order, the other operating on personal convictions. From his perspective, Sir believes he is rescuing people from their own plight. There was a natural progression leading to their confrontation, and Dhan’s near-fatal encounter serves as a stark reminder of the dangers inherent in the work they do. M&A members aren’t trained law enforcement—they are ordinary citizens who channel their traumatic experiences into compelling motivations to help others. However, their humanity poses a real risk in the field.
Trent and Sir Both Assume They’re Protecting Gabi
“One is a more distorted version, but they both operate from this place of Gabi holding a very important place in their life.”

The standoff between Trent and Sir is intriguing. While Trent typically tries to shield Gabi from Sir, now Sir claims to protect her from Trent’s potential arrest. Was this dynamic intentional?
Nkechi Okoro Carroll: Absolutely. Both men perceive themselves as Gabi’s protectors, yet they possess distinctly different viewpoints on what that entails. Trent values the legal process and believes in accountability—it’s at the core of his identity as a third-generation police officer. In contrast, Sir operates from a fundamentally different premise; he justified his past actions against Gabi as a form of protection, having made decisions about her wellbeing without her consent. This standoff accentuates that tension: Sir, who has traumatized Gabi for two decades, now stands in judgment, insisting he knows better about protecting her.
Beneath the surface, this conflict reveals the complexity of their relationships with Gabi. Trent’s rage reflects his deep-seated feelings of love and betrayal, stemming from Gabi’s secrecy. He struggles reconciling who he thought she was with her current actions. For Sir, however, his obsession with Gabi clouds his judgment, blurring lines between love and possession.
Could Trent’s perception of justice be altered by Sir’s revelations regarding his father?
Nkechi Okoro Carroll: Potentially. Trent is cognizant of the flaws in the legal system he defends, which contributes to his strife with authority. His experiences with M&A, coupled with his father’s esteemed legacy as a police officer, shape how he navigates the complex nature of morality within law enforcement.
As the revelations about his father surface, they will propel Trent into a deep investigation; he cannot afford to let Sir manipulate this narrative. This critical storyline promises to inform his actions in the upcoming episodes as Trent confronts his past and seeks closure.
Gabi Will Be Transparent with Margaret Regarding Sir’s Claims in Found Season 2
“What I can tease is that Margaret’s most personal case, Jamie, is going to take front and center.”

Sir claims to have information about Margaret’s son. Will Gabi hesitate to disclose this to her?
Nkechi Okoro Carroll: Gabi has certainly learned the importance of transparency within M&A. She realizes that withholding critical information could have dire consequences, as seen in past events. This lesson weighs heavily on her, and she vows to clearly communicate with Margaret moving forward.
The true crux of the matter now becomes how far Margaret will go to unearth the truth. I can hint that the mystery of her son Jamie will take a prominent role as we delve into both present-day investigations and flashbacks involving Margaret’s family, piecing together the facts of what transpired. Rest assured, fans can expect substantial developments as we progress through this season, and I encourage viewers to prepare for an emotional journey.
