Fortnite Introduces First-Person Mode with Ballistic
Excitement has been building around the potential of a first-person mode in Fortnite, with rumors circulating for quite some time. Recent data from 2023 suggested that this highly anticipated feature might debut as part of a substantial update for the iconic free-to-play game, Fortnite Battle Royale. Today, Epic Games has officially acknowledged the introduction of this new gameplay perspective, although it will not be available in Battle Royale for the time being.
Instead, players can look forward to the launch of Fortnite Ballistic, an innovative early access mode set to release on December 11. This mode will not only shift the perspective to first-person but will also introduce a more strategic and tactical gameplay experience. Players can expect a 5v5 round-based competitive format reminiscent of popular titles like Counter-Strike 2 and Valorant. Epic Games emphasizes that this mode will demand “strategy, tactical teamwork, and individual prowess”for success.
Gameplay Mechanics of Ballistic
In the Ballistic mode, participants will be divided into two teams at the beginning of each match: attackers and defenders. The objective for the attackers is to deploy a Rift Point Device at one of two designated sites on the map, while defenders work diligently to prevent this from happening.
Notably, there are no respawns in Ballistic. A round concludes if the Rift Point Device detonates or if one team is completely eliminated. After six rounds, teams will switch roles, allowing defenders a chance to attack and vice-versa. The match culminates when a team secures seven round wins!
Features and Economy
The Ballistic mode will incorporate unique features, including:
- A per-match economy system designed to reward both individual performance and teamwork.
- A purchasing shop accessible at the beginning of rounds for weapons, shields, and throwable items.
- Diverse weapons catering to various ranges and play styles, enhancing tactical depth.
