Overview of Fortnite’s Anti-Cheat Measures
- Fortnite has implemented penalties for players exploiting bot lobbies to unfairly enhance their Ranked standings.
- Participation in exclusive Fortnite tournaments necessitates a high rank, prompting some players to resort to cheating tactics.
- Epic Games is actively enforcing rules to maintain equity in Ranked play by addressing cheating behaviors.
Fortnite players have faced repercussions for using bot lobbies to artificially elevate their rank in competitive modes, and these disciplinary actions will persist against cheaters in the future. While Fortnite is well-known for its plethora of whimsical cosmetics and entertaining gameplay, there’s a serious competitive environment that requires a more vigilant approach from players.
Since its launch, Fortnite has captivated a blend of professional and casual gamers alike. Initially, the game sparked interest primarily within streaming circles, leading to the establishment of a competitive landscape. Over time, Epic Games has formalized this scene, introducing official tournaments and a dedicated Ranked playlist, ensuring regular competitive opportunities for players.
In the Ranked format, players are assigned a skill-based rank during their inaugural match. Achieving a higher rank offers more than just prestige; it unlocks exclusive tournaments that only highly-ranked individuals can enter. For example, the popular Cash Cups demand a certain rank for eligibility, incentivizing some players to find shortcuts through dishonest methods. Fortunately, Epic Games is responding robustly to these unethical practices.

- Creation of bot lobbies
- Exploitation of party and account loopholes
One prevalent method to achieve victories unfairly in Fortnite involves the generation of bot lobbies. Epic Games has recognized this exploitation as a primary concern, reinforcing its commitment to penalize such actions going forward. For clarification, bot lobbies refer to matches composed solely of a player and computer-controlled opponents.
To set up a bot lobby, players must create a new account and establish it as a friend to their main account. By inviting the primary account into a party and starting their initial match, they can ensure it is primarily against bots. This method may be repeated for future matches, provided they return to the lobby with the new account. Although bot lobbies simplify the path to a Victory Royale, players are still at risk of being eliminated by bots, as the challenge level can vary.
