Former WWE Women’s Champion confirms she’s not retired
Despite previously holding titles as both a WWE Women’s Champion and TNA Knockouts World Champion, a wrestler has clarified their current status in the industry, asserting that they have not retired.
Mickie James has not competed in a professional wrestling match since October 2023 at TNA Wrestling’s Bound For Glory event. On that night, she faced Trinity Fatu (also known as Naomi) for the Knockouts World Title but was unable to secure the victory. While currently serving as the Creative Director, Head of Female Talent, and Executive Producer for OVW, many fans are curious if she has retired from in-ring competition.
During her interview with Ella Jay of WrestleZone, the former WWE Women’s Champion discussed her future in professional wrestling. Despite having doubts about herself as a performer in the past, James emphasized that she is not letting those doubts slow her down.
“I think it’s been crazy because I had this whole resurgence of my career after a time where I was questioning my value or my worth as a performer. So it’s been exciting. I am not retired. I think that’s everything is balance, right, and I do have a lot on my plate right now. I knew we were planning [HER] in Australia, I knew I’m a co-producer with the Last Match musical, and I’m so grateful to be a part of that,”she said.
Mickie James also discussed the balancing act she and her husband, Nick Aldis, who serves as the General Manager of SmackDown, have to maintain in order to manage their respective careers.
“So when they offered the role of the mother, Nick [Aldis] wasn’t with WWE, so a lot of changes have been happening. Obviously, because of that, we’ve had to make a lot of changes. I thought it was important for our family that I was home more, for Donovan. Nick gladly took that role when I was on the road full-time, and it was just a lot trying to balance everything.”[H/T: 411 Mania]

Mickie James reveals her thoughts on a top WWE star’s leadership and snub at a major event
The ex-TNA Knockout World Champion revealed that she believes Bayley was offended during a significant event.
The Role Model is scheduled to compete against IYO WeY for the Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 40. However, she did not receive an invitation to attend the WrestleMania XL Kick-Off Press Event in Las Vegas.
During her appearance on Busted Open Radio earlier this year, Mickie James praised Bayley as a leader and one of the top female performers in WWE. The experienced 44-year-old also shared her belief that if she were in a similar situation, she might have felt a little slighted.
“I would’ve been a bit slighted. I felt like it was a bit of a slight in a sense, not just to the women’s division but to her. She’s probably the best female worker there. I think that she’s been a constant [on programming]. Everything that she does is so good. .. She’s just a leader,”James said.
It is yet to be determined if and when Mickie James will make a comeback to the ring or potentially become a part of WWE in the future.
