Former WWE employee feels Cody Rhodes was “chosen by the marks,” doubts his credibility within TKO (Exclusive)
Despite Cody Rhodes being in the running for the WrestleMania main event this year, Vince Russo, former WWE head writer, has expressed his preference for Roman Reigns and his reasoning behind it.
At WrestleMania XL, the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship will be on the line as the two top stars of WWE go head-to-head. For over 1,311 days, Roman has held the championship, but The American Nightmare is riding high after winning back-to-back Royal Rumbles.
Vince Russo expressed his thoughts on this week’s Legion of RAW, stating that he believed the outcome would depend on how The Rock and TKO perceived the two competitors. He further elaborated that if he were in the shoes of the Hollywood star, he would choose to keep Roman as the champion.
“It really depends on how The Rock sees and views Cody Rhodes. I’m sorry, if I’m the Rock and I’m on that Board and I have say so, to me, Roman is much better a champion of that company than Cody Rhodes,”said Russo.
The previous writer argued that Roman Reigns’ memorable championship reign was a more compelling narrative for casual viewers compared to Cody’s journey to become the first in his family to claim the coveted title.
“Cody Rhodes is a guy that was chosen by the marks. He was going to be their guy. I don’t believe casual fans care about Cody or are fans of Cody Rhodes. I think Reigns with that streak supercedes Cody finishing a stupid story. That’s just me bro, that’s the way I feel.”[From 13:08 onwards]
In the past two weeks, The Bloodline has taken a strong stance against Seth Rollins and Cody, physically attacking the two good guys and asserting their power and control.
As we approach WrestleMania, it is becoming more challenging to determine which wrestler will come out on top at the main event of The Show of Shows.
