Former Women’s Champion pushing for another female title in WWE
Naomi, a former WWE Women’s Champion, has publicly expressed her support for a potential new title in the female division of the Stamford-based company.
Earlier this year, the 36-year-old made her return to WWE at Royal Rumble. She participated in the Women’s Rumble as the second entrant and remained in the match for over sixty-two minutes before ultimately being eliminated by Jade Cargill. Currently, the former WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion is embroiled in a feud with Damage CTRL.
In a recent conversation on Going Ringside, Naomi was questioned about her interest in being involved in the title picture. While she answered positively, she expressed that she feels like she is starting from the beginning again since her return. Naomi also elaborated on how the locker room has evolved since her departure from the company two years ago.
“Absolutely. But the division in the locker room has changed so much since I’ve returned. So, I, kind of, in a weird way, feel like I don’t feel I’m starting over, but I do… There is a lot of new talent from NXT that’s there now. A lot of women that I was there with, they aren’t there anymore. A lot of girls that I’ve been with for the last ten years [are no longer there]. We’re just seeing a lot of fresh faces, a lot of tag teams, and I’m getting to know and feel everybody out and see where I stand. So, for me, it’s kind of like starting over,”she said. Naomi to Battle WWE’s Most Dominant Heel Faction at WrestleMania XL
The Damage CTRL faction has been one of the wrestling promotion’s most successful all-female groups. Throughout its history, the team has consistently featured top superstars such as Charlotte Flair, Bianca Belair, Naomi, and others.
During last week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, The EST of WWE emerged victorious in a singles match against Dakota Kai. However, following the match, the Kabuki Warriors launched a surprise attack on the former WWE Women’s Champion. Despite Naomi’s efforts to come to Belair’s aid, she was unable to prevent the attack.
Just as it seemed that Damage CTRL would emerge victorious, Jade Cargill’s entrance music played. The former AEW TBS Champion made her way to the ring and ruthlessly took down Kai and the Kabuki Warriors, setting the stage for a six-women tag team match at WrestleMania XL.
