The game’s popularity even led to bizarre scenarios where people sold iPhones with Flappy Bird pre-installed on eBay for exorbitant prices. Additionally, the simplicity of the game allowed for clones to appear almost instantly, while a version was also adapted for Fire TV.

In a surprising turn of events, 2024 saw Nguyen lose the game’s trademark to Gametech Holdings. This resulted in the emergence of an unofficial reboot titled The Flappy Bird Foundation. Unfortunately, this version faced backlash for incorporating cryptocurrency elements, which deviated from the original game’s charm.
In response to this unauthorized revival, Nguyen took to X (formerly Twitter) to clarify his stance, stating,
No, I have no related with their game. I did not sell anything. I also don’t support crypto.
The Exciting New Features
As of last year, it was confirmed that versions of the rehatched Flappy Bird for Android and iOS would be launching in 2025. The latest Android edition, as detailed on its official website, introduces new characters, challenges, and worlds, providing a fresh experience for returning fans and newcomers alike.
Players can choose between Classic mode and the newly introduced Quest mode, each requiring precise tapping and timing to navigate Flappy through pipes and obstacles. Notably, this version has opted out of any cryptocurrency integration, focusing instead on engaging gameplay. The game comes in at approximately 129MB and requires Android version 6.0 or later.
Looking Ahead: iOS Development and Future Plans
The iOS version of Flappy Bird is also in the pipeline, although no specific release date has been announced. The developers have hinted at further plans for additional platforms, saying,
